Earlier this year Massolution released their 2015 annual crowdfunding industry report. As stated in the report the crowdfunding industry raised $16.2 billion in 2014, this was up from the $6.1 billion raised in 2013.  The crowdfunding industry is set to double in 2015 and is expected to raise $34.2 billion over the course of the year.  There is currently hundreds of crowdfunding platforms that serve different markets and industries. The growth in the crowdfunding industry is opening the door to opportunities that new platforms will capitalize on.

Industry Growth Expands in the Global Marketplace

The white label SaaS company Thrinacia has embraced the rapid growth in the global crowdfunding industry. Earlier this year the company partnered with Shinto-Tsushin on a reseller agreement to service the Japanese market. Thrinacia offers a SaaS that allows clients to build and manage crowdfunding platforms that can be easily translated into different languages.  There is an increasing demand for crowdfunding platforms that are not only for non-english speakers but also cater to the specific needs of these growing markets. For years the crowdfunding industry was concentrated largely in North America and in parts of Europe. This is beginning to change as crowdfunding expands into a truly global industry. As the Massolution report states the crowdfunding industry in Asia along with other continents is expected to continue to grow at a rapid rate. Plenty of new crowdfunding platforms are expected to be built to meet the growth demand and diverse needs of these markets.

New Opportunities for Niche Market Crowdfunding Platforms

The rapid growth in the industry has spurred an incentive to create new crowdfunding websites and those platforms will further increase the campaign dollars raised year over year. New platforms continue to be built to serve markets that were previously underserved. An excellent example of this is Cruzu, a crowdfunding platform that connects wine makers with consumers in a way that is beneficial to both parties. Cruzu’s founders saw a problem that could be solved through crowdfunding so they set out to provide a solution. Crowdfunding will continue to be adapted to meet the needs of many different industries and markets.

Building, managing and marketing crowdfunding platforms has become much easier and affordable with the continued improvements in white label SaaS. Individuals, organizations and companies who see service gaps can now make their innovative crowdfunding ideas a reality even with little to no web development experience. The barriers to entry are diminishing; however, the rate of growth in the industry is increasing the demand for new crowdfunding platforms that are able to meet the needs of different markets.
