Campaign Success: Explaining your Vision

When creating a Crowdfunding Campaign, you will have to convince a range of people to donate their money towards your vision. A great way to compel someone to give you funding, is by telling your personal story, and how that relates to your idea or product you intend to introduce to the world. Some important questions that you should be answering in your story are:

Who are you? – This includes your name, where you come from and your team (if you have one).

What caused you to pursue your idea or product? – Inform people how you got your idea. Let them know why you chose to start your Campaign.

What are you going to create? – Tell people exactly what you are going to create, including the functionality and intricacies.

What is on your schedule? – Give the potential backers a timeline to follow. You may want to provide a company roadmap.

What is the budget? – This will re-assure your backers that you have considered your expenses.

You will be broadcasting this information through separate forms of media.

The first is your campaign video. Think of this video as your shoe in the door to your potential backers. This will be the selling point and your greatest salesman to your market. You have a period of time to capture the individuals attention and persuade them to get involved with your campaign. When creating the video, it is key to keep in mind the motivations of the potential backers. These motivations will include:

  • Desired to be associated with your team
  • Validating their ability to pick a winner
  • The pride of feeling ownership of your product or service
  • Feeling of being an early ‘adoptor’
  • Involvement with change

Your video should capture these motivations, and leave the individual to feel compelled to donate to your campaign.

The individual will most likely want to know all of the details in regards to the product or idea. These details will be further explained in the Campaign’s description. It is also recommended that you include engaging visuals in your description along with the text.

Once your backer is convinced, they want to donate, next, is figuring out how much they will spend Creating Rewards
